Managing Director Mr. Sivakumar K
On behalf of PSA’s Bharat Mumbai Container Terminal, welcome to our website. We hope that this website will be a good information resource about PSA Mumbai and it will be a medium of communication to all our customers, stakeholders and port users.
More than three years of non-stop hard work in a very challenging environment , by the PSA Mumbai Project team culminated in the completion and operationalization of our terminal in December 2017. The success of this massive project, which is still only at the Phase 1 stage ( 2.4 million TEU capacity with a continuous 1000m quay length ) was due to a combination of great team effort by the PSA Mumbai team with our PSA International’s HQ. We are also very grateful for the continued support and confidence of the Ministry of Shipping, JNPT,IPRCL, Customs and many other regulatory authorities . A very special mention to the numerous contractors and consultants who enabled the Phase 1 to be completed on time .
2018 began auspiciously with PSA Mumbai receiving its first container in January 2018 and thereafter the first vessel . The Honorable Prime Minister , Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the terminal in late Feb 2018.
PSA Mumbai will continue to receive new state of the art equipment to enhance the service levels . These new equipment underscores our commitment to be a game-changer in the Jawarharlal Nehru Port landscape , to support the trade’s requirements for premium service, faster turnaround of vessels , flexibility and room to grow. Ably supported by the strong and focused management team and a team of dedicated staff, recruited from the local communities and all over India, PSA Mumbai aims to be a positive influence in JNPT’s growth
Expansion plans are ongoing in earnest and the development of Phase 2 is expected to be completed and online by the end of 2022 , doubling our capacity. In addition to the yard and shore facilities, PSA Mumbai’s rail facilities will be the largest in a container terminal in India when PSA Mumbai’s Phase 2 is completed. It will include the only on-dock Dedicated Freight Corridor-compliant facility in JNPT, capable of handling 1.5-kilometre long, 360 Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit (“TEU”) container trains.
In the year when PSA is celebrating our 20th year of investment and involvement in India which started in Tuticorin and progressed to Chennai and Kolkata , PSA Mumbai aims to be a positive influence in JNPT’s growth. As well as creating direct and indirect job opportunities, PSA Mumbai intends to continue to contribute positively and play an important social role in the communities around the terminal.
